Well, besides being IN the industry and selling parts and so on, when I get home, I take bikes apart that I have purchased for cheap and sell them on ebay. I am not making ANY money putting bikes together and selling them..... so why not do the opposite!?!?!?! This week I made $400 profit selling stuff on ebay!!!! I now have a line on a KZ650 with papers that has a messed up head for $100. Not bad, eh?

Posts: 54 07/30/08 19:31:59	Sounds like a money maker to me. I have bought a few bikes over the years and either went through them and made them better or pieced them out. Been thinking about trying to find some newer bikes to do it with. Maybe talk a junk yard into letting me in on a deal here and there. Sometimes insurance agencies are a good place to get bikes, but would assume you have to have an in to do that.

Posts: 119 08/04/08 17:20:45	I bought another bike this week. A '78 KZ650D for $100. I brought it home and started tearing it apart and found out it had a Dyna electronic ignition!!!!! That's $150 right there!!!! Already have that sold to a friend. But I have 2 friends that get bikes from metal scrap yards or auto salvage yards. $150 a bike or so, no matter what it is they have to get it. But it's hard NOT to make money parting out a bike for $150. Usually you can sell a few parts and make your money back SUPER quick!!! Speaking of.... I need to get some stuff listed!!!

Posts: 54 08/07/08 20:39:53	Bought a bike from a guy about an hour from home. Looked pretty beat up but I thought it had a good set of carbs on it from what I could see from the pictures. Bought it...got it home...and lo and behold...set of 29mm smoothbores like I thought. Those paid for the bike so the bike was basicaly free. Like you, I like those kinds of deals.

Posts: 119 08/10/08 13:06:08	I traded an EX250 ninja for an old CB750 years ago and it had some weird carbs on it. I didn't know anything about them. Come to find out.... they were VM29's.
