Greetings All,
My name is Tim Steele. I am addicted to 2 stroke street bikes from the 70s . Here's picture of my bike : I hang out at the Kawaski Triples Worldwide forum http://kawasakitriplesworldwide.com/phpBB2/index.php where I have the privelege of being a long time member and moderator. My bike is called the Phoenix Project ,it was built from parts and funds donated by fellow board members at KTW ,assembled by yours truly after a shop fire in May of 03 destroyed all my bikes ,cars ,tools and equipment. The Phoenix has undergone several evolutions since then. Currently as depicted: 1975 H1 500 rolling chassis with late 71 H2 750 motor, 60 over Wiseco forged pistons,Stage I porting ,by yours truly, 34 MM Mikuni carbs, Neville Lush racing ignition, FPP expansion chambers, period correct Dunstall rearsets , instruments by Rick Brett, Ex 500 Ninja mags, forks and brakes, Damon Kirkland crank with Bill Baxter rods, running Blue Marble 2 stroke oil through the factory injector pump ,compression is 155 PSI ,gets about 15 MPG and uses 4-6 ozs of 2 stroke oil per tank of pump 93 UNL fuel .Wet weight is somewhere in the 400 pound range, horsepower, around 95 at the rear wheel . I shift it at 8000 for prolonged crank life . 1st and 2nd gear power wheelies have been known to occur upon occaison. The Phoenix is capable of top speeds in the 130 mph range while getting 15 MPG and using 4-6 ozs of 2 stroke oil per tank of fuel. This combination is actually quite streetable .The later EX wheels and forks and a good used set of low mileage stock rear shocks make it handle quite well for a mid 70s triple. Recent addtions include a Trail Tech computer with billet mount ,a new Barnett clutch and springs with Sytec actuator . I'll be heading out for Deals Gap on Tuesday the 20th of May with the rest of the KTW bunch for our annual spring rally where we will ride the Tail of the Dragon 318 curves in 11 miles . Thanks for letting me be a part of this forum.
I Love the Smell Of Blue Marble in the Morning!!!

That is a super duper cool bike!!!
I think that is where I remember seeing your name... probably just from the Kaw triple board. Sometimes I lurke, sometimes I post. In my eyes, those year triples are the coolest. I love the round tail. I think my '72 H2 tail is...... well.... kinda ugly. But that bike is a classic!!! Those vapor gauges are the way to go!!! Everyone is using them and they are super accurate! Sorry about the fire, but it looks like you got a new shed out of it. It looks bigger than mine!!!! I've got shed envy!!!! The guys at KTW are super awesome. It's great that they donated unwanted parts to put together a bike for ya!!!! You probably know John's02r6? He is an acquaintance of mine. He lives in my area and has sold me some parts. He always pushes me to get my bikes done. I just have too many to get them all done as soon as I want. Anyone want to buy some bikes?!?!?! ;) |

G'day Tim, welcome to the forum
Love your triple looks awesome.
Kork Ballington has a '69 500 triple ( white one with a drum front brake) that he won his first south african championship on that he has rebuilt. Redid everything except the pipes that were bashed flat with a hammer to give it ground clearance,

Looks like you put a lot of work into your bike. Looks great. Welcome to the site. Get your buddies to have a look. Man, losing all your stuff must have been
devastating. Sounds like a fantastic group of friends you have over there.
