A customer came into the store and he is building a modified KZ400 cafe racer. He talked about doing a front end swap.
Can anyone recommend anything? I was thinking like an EX250 Ninja. That would probably be perfect!!! Both are parallel twins, smaller bikes, etc.... I think it could work!!! |

If he is going to the trouble to do this, may as well get as new and modern a front end as possible. Probably be best to try to find a bike he can get complete
front end off of and possibly the rearend set-up also. If he can remove and replace the steering stem, I would think just about any bike would work....just not
anything to big and bulky like a 'busa or something. What about a 600cc frontend ? Guess alot will depend on what he can find and how much. I would just
keep an eye open and see if something pops up. Does he want a standard design or a USD style front-end?

You will need to make sure that the the forks are the same as the stock ones, most of the never USD forks are 2 to 3 inches shorter than the old school bikes.

Good point. Why is that? Most of the new bikes I sit on makes me feel like I'm back in grade school.....feet don't reach the floor! LOL Seems like they
are longer...if the forks are longer, where is the height coming from?

Well... I bet 250 or 500 ninja parts are CHEAP!!!
I would think it wouldn't be too hard to swap it either. Maybe an EX swingarm would work too! |
